OUR
STORY
WF3 Kindness was set up in March 2020 as news of the coronavirus pandemic came out of Europe.
Although the world is a very different place to what it was during the days of lockdowns and social distancing, we continue to be at the heart of the community.
THE JOURNEY
WF3 Kindness was founded in March 2020 in an effort to support people living in the Tingley, Ardsley and Thorpe area during the Coronavirus pandemic.
News was coming from across Europe of the disruption to daily life caused by the Coronavirus outbreak and we were concerned about the impact that this would have on the elderly, the vulnerable and normal families within our community.
We coordinated volunteers who provided practical and emotional support to local people, whether that was by collecting groceries from a supermarket, helping them with physical tasks around the home or simply by offering a listening ear to people that felt lonely and isolated.
In June 2020 our Founder, Dan Frank was invited to join Morley & District Lions Club, the local Lions club is a registered charity which covers most of South Leeds and North Kirklees. The Lions are the world's largest service club organisation with a network of 1.3 million men and women spanning 205 countries and geographic areas working together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Dan took us with him under the Lions umbrella and we became a working name of the registered charity which provided us with charity status and was the springboard we needed to take us forward.
Three years later and whilst the need is different to what it was during the challenges of a global pandemic, there is still a need out there and there are still people who want to help.
