WF3 Kindness was founded in March 2020 in an effort to support people living in the Tingley, Ardsley and Thorpe area during the Coronavirus pandemic. 

 

News was coming from across Europe of the disruption to daily life caused by the Coronavirus outbreak and we were concerned about the impact that this would have on the elderly, the vulnerable and normal families within our community.

We coordinated volunteers who provided practical and emotional support to local people, whether that was by collecting groceries from a supermarket, helping them with physical tasks around the home or simply by offering a listening ear to people that felt lonely and isolated.

In June 2020 we became a project of Morley & District Lions Club, a registered charity which operates across most of South Leeds and North Kirklees. Becoming a working name of Morley & District Lions provided us with charity status and was the springboard we needed to take us forward.

More than three years later and whilst the need is different to what it was during the challenges of a global pandemic, there is still a need out there and there are still people who want to help.
