WF3 Kindness and West Ardsley Action Group (WAAG) have been working together across the community to fundraise and purchase lifesaving Public Access Defibrillators (PAD).

Our third PAD has now been installed and is available for use in an emergency at East & West Ardsley Social Club on Common Lane.

Our PAD units are registered with “The Circuit”, meaning that in the event of an emergency, 999 operators and the emergency services can provide any member of the public who may require a defibrillator a code to access the unit, and potentially save someone’s life.

We hope it's a total waste of money and is never needed.

Dan Frank from WF3 Kindness said: "We hope it's a total waste of money and is never needed but in reality a PAD can genuinely be the difference of someone leaving hospital the next day or dying."

According to specialists, to help someone who is in cardiac arrest effectively, a defibrillator needs to be found and used as quickly as possible. For every minute it takes for the defibrillator to reach someone and deliver a shock, their chances of survival reduce.

Camille Leach from WAAG said: "I am delighted to see the installation of the new defib at East and West Ardsley Social Club. This is now the fourth defib to be delivered within a two-mile radius.

"Huge thanks to the local community who always help us with fundraising, without them donating these life saving defibs wouldn't be possible. Also, not forgetting Cody Hartley who is always available to support and offer her help and knowledge in order to get these ordered, installed and available to use"

Dan added: "Thanks as always to Camille for her drive and helping to get this over the line and special thanks to Neil and Geraldine from East & West Ardsley Social Club for their help and support in getting this piece of equipment installed and to their Electrician, Dominic Dean who worked his magic getting the box powered up and working."

The partnership between WF3 Kindness and West Ardsley Action Group has now enabled us to purchase and install three defibrillators which will undoubtedly save lives right here in our community.

Our other PAD's are installed at: The Brittish Oak on Westerton Road and The New Scarborough on Old Dewsbury Road.
