WF3 Kindness and The West Riding Small Locomotive Society (WRSLS) held their first community fun day at Blackgates Miniature Railway on Saturday (23rd July) which turned out to be a ‘huge success and enjoyed by many’.

Local community charity, WF3 Kindness, teamed together with The WRSLS and local organisations to put on a fun-filled day of activities for children and families in Tingley.

The inaugural WF3 Community Fun Day sponsored by Northern Accountants, The Hare and Hounds, Alan Shires from Voice Over and More, Cllr Mike Foster, JEL Mechanical Services and supported by Morley and District Lions Club (CIO) included free train rides, subsidised food, face painting, balloon modelling, teddy tombola, hook a duck and higher or lower and more.

There were competitions for the kids with some impressive prizes up for grabs including giant cuddly toys and prizes donated by organisations and groups from across the Tingley, Ardsley and Thorpe area.

Local independent businesses Braeside Bakes and Busy B were also in attendance along with Morley’s Men in Sheds who were selling their products from their stalls.

The WRSLS said: I'd just like to take the time to thank everyone from WRSLS that helped organise and run this event.

“I'd also like to thank the WF3 Kindness team for choosing our venue for this event, we hope you, the families you support and others who came from across the local community enjoyed the day.

“We hope that we can make this an annual event.” - WRSLS Committee, Blackgates Miniature Railway

Emma Sykes from Braeside Bakes who had a stall at the event said: “We had a great day.

“Thank you to everyone who came to our stall and to Dan and his team for organising such an amazing event.

“I promise to bake more next year”

The event proved popular by children and parents alike with great feedback received on the day and posted on social media.

Dan Frank from WF3 Kindness said: “What a brilliant day! It was great to see so many people from across Tingley, Ardsley and Thorpe come together to have fun and support us.

“As this was our first ever fun day we didn’t know what to expect but it was a huge success and enjoyed by many.

“Thank you to everyone that came along, we hope everyone enjoyed it and we will certainly be looking at bringing it back again.” - Dan Frank, WF3 Kindness

The event helped raise vital funds for WF3 Kindness to ensure that we can support local people as and when they need it.
