Our
Defib Appeal

WF3 Kindness and West Ardsley Action Group have been working together on a campaign to buy defibrillators for the community.

We have set ourselves the target of purchasing a number of defibrillators to be securely installed within the Tingley and Ardsley area.

What is a Defibrillator?

A Defibrillator is commonly known as a 'defib' or an 'AED' (Automated External Defibrillator). It can be used to give the heart an electric shock when it has stopped beating normally in a sudden cardiac arrest.

What are we doing?

With help from the West Ardsley Action Group we are fundraising to raise funds to purchase some defibrillators across the community.

Why are we doing this?

In line with our values and vision we want to look after everyone in our community and further afield, this includes having life saving equipment available should there be a need.

There was a community effort a couple of years ago to purchase a defibrillator which is located outside The Hare & Hounds on Batley Road, West Ardsley but as time is of the essence in an emergency situation where there is need for a defibrillator, we want to make sure that more people stand a better chance of survival should they suffer from a cardiac arrest. The journey from one side of the village to the other could be the difference so we want to have enough defibrillators which make any journey time required as short as possible.

Where will the defibrillators be installed?

We are able to confirm that the location for three of the defibrillators will be outside:

  1. The British Oak pub, Westerton Road;

  2. The New Scarborough pub, Dewsbury Road;

  3. East & West Ardsley Social Club, Bradford Road.

How can I get involved?

Remember, these pieces of equipment can be the difference of leaving a hospital within a few days or death, let's look after everyone in the community and help save lives!
